Why did GlobalGiving open a Representative Office in China?

The Overseas NGO Law took effect on January 1st, 2017, which changed how foreign funders like GlobalGiving Foundation (GlobalGiving) can operate the People’s Republic of China’s nonprofit sector. Our Representative Office allows GlobalGiving to continue transforming aid and philanthropy to accelerate community-led change. The office is registered in Shanghai and GlobalGiving is allowed to operate in Beijing, Chongqing, Guangdong, Hubei, Jiangsu, Shaanxi, Shanghai, Sichuan, Tianjin, Yunnan.
